UNICEF is one of many clubs on campus that allow students to give back to the community. UNICEF’s purpose is to “save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential, from early childhood through adolescence”. Members participate in conventions and campaigns like Trick-or-Treat. The campaigns bring the campus community together to create a bigger voice for children everywhere.
Once COVID happened, UNICEF was unable to partake in events since most involved in person and being hands on rather than virtual. However, now that Lycoming is allowing in-person events, club president Umaya says she “is most looking forward to being able to hold and collaborate with other organizations for in-person events”. The club collaborates with other organizations on campus to think globally and act locally. UNICEF is currently working on projects and one which you can look forward to is “The Feast” which will take place in the spring semester. An event the club enjoys putting together is the Water Walk, a fundraiser where awareness about the impact of global water crisis, specifically on children is raised.
