Circle K!

Circle K!

Staff Writer: Casey Lane

At Lycoming College, there are many clubs and organizations that center around community service. Circle K is one such organization. Headed by President Lesli Molina and Vice President Yesenia Sanchez, the Lycoming College chapter of Circle K follows much of the same principles of Circle K International. The purpose of the organization is “to develop leaders by offering unique service, leadership and fellowship opportunities… real-life networking and advocating skills and service leadership.” Members focus on volunteer work and service opportunities within the campus and greater Williamsport community. During the school year, members partner with local high schools to create meaningful service opportunities such as caroling during the holiday season.

This organization, along with many others, have faced many challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Along with decreased volunteer opportunities, members need to be creative in order to find and create virtual, Covid-safe events. This includes virtual tutoring sessions with high schoolers and letters against isolation, in which they write letters to residents in nursing homes who cannot have visitors during the pandemic.

If you have any suggestions for service opportunities, questions, or want to join this meaningful organization, please contact Lesli Molina (mollesl@lycoming.edu) or Yesenia Sanchez (sanyese@lycoming.edu) for more information.
