At Lycoming there are a variety of clubs focusing on different topics such as GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance). GSA focuses on issues concerning the LGBTQ+ community around the globe. The club tries to provide a safe space for LBTQ+ students on campus and educate allies on the history of pride flags, how HIV/AIDS stigma has affected the gay community, and many more things. They have collaborated with other clubs such as MAG, LASO, BSU and the sisters of MU Sigma Upsilon. Recently, they collaborated to focus on intersectionality and how to navigate overlapping identities on campus.

GSA has held events in the past semesters such as National Coming Out Day, fireside chats, and they are looking forward to Trans Day of Remembrance vigil, pride week, and a drag show. If you are looking for a safe environment to talk, then GSA is a club worth checking out. When GSA’s president was asked what her favorite memory while being part of GSA she said, “when a member expressed how much GSA meant to them and was glad they were able to safely express their views as someone in the LGBTQ+ community”.

If you would like to learn more about GSA, feel free to contact medgeor@lycoming.edu.
