Wrestling: The Sequel

Hello everyone! I am back with another sports article today following up with one of the Lycoming wrestlers Jacob Allen Davis. His first tournament was at home, and he had another one in Williamsport last Saturday. Both he and our team performed the best they could, showing lots of Warrior spirit! This time Jacob let us in on the world of wrestling during the tournaments.
First thing first, when one team is short members, the tournament is done through round robins. When the team is short on wrestlers everyone from that team with the lesser members wrestle the people on the other team in their weight class in different rounds. If the teams both have enough or the same amount of people, then they have the bracket matches to decide who moves on throughout the tournament. These tournaments can go for hours. The matches usually start at 10 am and go all the way through to 6 pm.
Jacob was eager to share how it feels to be on the mat. He said that there is lots of adrenaline and excitement going into and throughout the match when wrestling. All the excitement of the crowd, even the mothers cheering on their children, blur and get lost in the tunnel vision of the participants. With each pin-down, the public reacts accordingly, and the participant reviews their mistakes in the last match to do better in the next.
Cheering on your friends, you can get lost in action. I highly recommend that you go see one before the seasons are over. You can go to their Facebook page: Lyco Wrestling or keep up with the sports calendar.
