Today we will go on a global trip all the way to India! Diya Tibrewal is an individual who goes by the pronouns she and they. They are an inspiring eighteen-year-old songwriter and music producer from Jaipur, India. Diya’s goal is to experiment with different music genres to create something new and exciting for their listeners. With a total of 384 listeners, she is attracting quite a crowd! Because their fan base is primarily in India, we are trying to spread their music on a more global scale! Since Diya is a brand-new artist, they currently have only two musical pieces. One is called “Fighting Desires”, with lyrics, and the other “In Pursuit”, an instrumental piece. Diya’s latest piece, “Fighting Desires”, is inspired by the story of Kevin Hines, a man who attempted suicide on the Golden Gate bridge. However, when Kevin almost let go of the bridge railing, he realized he did not want to die and kept on holding strong. Diya embraced Kevin’s feeling and used this as the basis of their song, to discourage more people from trying to commit suicide. Switching from third, to second, and finally first person, she hopes that this song will connect with all its listeners. I certainly connected with the message of the song, and as a result, was crying at the end of my first listen.
