Gospel Choir

Staff Writer: Yesenia Sanchez

Lycoming has a variety of clubs, some new and some old. A recent addition to the list of clubs on campus is the Gospel Choir Club. This club was recently created, and it aims to broaden the spectrum of music at Lycoming by bringing more modern artists and music. Lycoming currently has a choir which is open for everyone to join, however, it has restrictions on the style of music, directing methods, instrumental accompaniment, and overall performance execution that don’t allow for complete creative freedom. Since the gospel choir will be student-led, students will be given the liberty to choose any song or type of music they want to explore. They will be able to choose music that they like, have meaning to them, or just want to sing along to.

When the President of the club was asked why he chose to create the club he stated, “I want this to be an opportunity to demonstrate, express, and have something that people can connect with and enjoy”. The club hopes to, “add a modern diverse style of music while still keeping the traditional aspects that help enrich and reinforce music at Lycoming”. If this club sounds like something you would enjoy or would want to check out, you can contact Dequan Galloway (galdequ@lycoming.edu).
