On December 2nd, 2021 at 7:30 PM in Mary L. Theater both Kiera Vinson and Allison Feinstein performed their solo senior projects.
Kiera Vinson is a senior double major in musical theater performance and French from Clarion, PA. Kiera Vinson’s play I find Myself in Their Stories:
The senior project is meant to be a cumulative display of the four years I
have spent studying theatre here at Lycoming. If it sounds intimidating, it is.
In crafting my senior project, I chose to follow the path of gathering songs
and monologues that can live in my Audition Book (A collection of
monologues and songs of all genres under the sun) for future auditions. This
periormance showcases the roles I play best and the roles that stretch outside
my usual characters- also intimidating. Tonight, these pieces have been
chosen to contrast each other. However, they all are tied to myself, hence the
title of "I Find Myself in Their Stories. They are all laced with aspects of my
identity, obvious or otherwise. I hope this information frames tonight's
performance, and with that, I hope you enjoy what can be alternatively titled:
"The Genuine Kiera Experience: On a Good Day.”
Allison Feinstein is a senior with a degree in Theater with a performance concentration and early childhood education certification. Allison Feinstein’s play Piece By Piece:
In learning to take myself and my work seriously, I've also learned
just how truly important it is to play and craft joy. Each piece was
selected either to reconnect with characters I've worked with in the
past, a reflection of myself, or to explore new avenues and push my
comfort zone. I am able to use this project as a way to showcase not
only the parts of me that I'm proud of but those that I try to hide. All
of the beautiful pain that life brings in exploring the ways we love,
play, grieve, cope, and live each day. Approaching graduation and not
knowing where life will take me but knowing that growing up means
taking responsibility and pushins on despite fear, taking control of my
choices and becoming the ponymous character in my own life. In
telling their stories, I am telling my own.
