After battling through forty-degree weather to win their first two matches, the Lycoming Women’s Tennis Team saw their first glimpse of spring as they traveled to Arcadia last Saturday. Through forfeiting two matches due to the absence of integral members Addison Angstadt and Wiliana Lundy, the women bested Arcadia 6-3. At first doubles, Rei Saar and Hannah Seebold lost a hard-fought match 8-6. At second doubles, power duo Haley Seebold and Emily Wolfgang remained undefeated with their 8-5 victory. The warriors took all five singles matches. At second, third, and fifth singles, respectively, Rei Saar, Emily Wolfgang, and Sarah Lanphear won decisive two-set matches, this being Sarah’s first career singles win. At first and fourth singles, sisters Hannah and Haley Seebold fought through three long sets, both emerging victorious. Throughout the matches, all members of the team cheered both from the sidelines and neighboring courts, maintaining positive energy that pushed each player to peak performance. In the words of Hannah Seebold “We worked hard as a team and pulled together in a match we weren’t in favor to win.” Her teammates agreed with the sentiment, crediting the camaraderie and support of the team as essential to the win. With this victory, the Women's tennis team clinched their fifth straight match, giving them their longest winning streak since the seven-games in a row in 2001. Coaches LeRoy Baer and Joel Reid were instrumental in this victory. The team hopes to continue their streak as they travel to Misericordia this Tuesday.
