In the photos above are R. Ortega’s, Political Science Major & French Minor, poems from Lycoming College Professor, Andrew Stafford’s French 225 class. Translations into English are as follows:
Sun
She is warm like fire
She shines like a star
She is as deadly as a volcano
But she has a heart as big as the universe
She is like the sun
Lonely Year
The year almost begins with World War III
By February there is a global pandemic outbreak
By March the many countries are shutdown
Schools, Hospital & Cities Shutdown
The world was calm but death was hiding
#Quarantined
I wait for the phone to ring
Here I go again
New year same story
The loneliness continues
Continuing the days
Till this is over
I see the cars passing
I feel the wind blowing
I hear the laughter of my peers outside
I continue to wait
The loneliness continues
Continuing the days
Till this is over
Next are the French Poems and English translations for Mia Williams.
Translation:
I am
I am Mia Williams
I am elegant like a Jade tree
The roots of my history makes me strong
The leaves resembles my natural hair
When I walk in the freedom in which my family could not walk
I am strong
I am intelligent
I am the dream of my family
Je peux me perdre dedans
Translation:
The Boyfriend
His eyes are like the ocean, very big
I can get lost in them
His smile is bright like the sun
So, I cannot see his lies
He dance with smoothness that resembles a dance with the devil
He is as intelligent as he is handsome
My love is strong like the tides of the ocean
Lastly, these are the French poems and English translations for Evan Armstrong, Double Major in Political Science & Quantitative Economics and Minor in Energy Science.
Translation:
The Drive
Heading south, the trees appear imposing
The shadows cover the forest with a blanket of mystery
The nerves tense, and the knuckles turn white
But heading north, the moon exposes all
Anxiety gives way to clarity, and one sighs of relief
L’Homme Fort
The Strong Man
In my youth I didn’t cry at funerals
I repressed my emotions in order to be a “strong man”
But now I stood, tears raining on my cheeks
While the strongest man was lowered into the earth
