OLE: Hike with an Ecologist
Writer: Sarah Laphear
This weekend, Lycoming’s Outdoor Leadership and Education program hosted a “Hike with an Ecologist” Event at the local Williamsport Water Authority. Located only a mile from campus, this facility provides a series of scenic trails that include remnants of old settlements such as a well, building foundations, and
a keystone, as well as the site of an old school building. Though the ecologist could not attend, the student enjoyed a roughly three-mile trek with information from the OLE leaders on local flora and fauna, such as eastern hemlocks, white oaks, and eastern newts. Both students and instructors made the most of a cloudy day, beating the rain to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
