Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Writer: Sarah Laphea

Lycoming’s club Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is one of over 24,000 FCA organizations worldwide. This group seeks to create a community for Christian athletes but welcomes students in any part of their faith and/or athletic journey. This year’s club theme is “every” and highlights the importance of making each moment count, whether it be practice, community interaction, class, or rest time.

In their weekly meetings at the Drum House, program leaders present bible passages with a central theme and take-home message to keep students inspired and give them a topic to ponder throughout their week that applies to all aspects of their athletic, faith, and student journeys. Presentations often lead to thoughtful small-group discussions and activities that help members engage with the message and find more profound meaning and applications to their lives.

When asked about why they participate in FCA, members cited that it facilitated “great relationships with people on campus in a positive environment” and that attending meetings made them “more intentional about community time” while providing an opportunity to “spread love.” If interested in joining this club, please contact Glenn T. Smith (@smithg@lycoming.edu) or feel free to attend a meeting: Monday nights at 8:30 in the Drum House!
